"When the sound pictures department of the Paramount studios in Hollywood asked for a short test of the singing voice of Baclanova, noted Russian actress, she saved time for her work on George Bancroft's current starring picture The Wolf of Wall Street by obliging via the Dictaphone. Bancroft, who once was a star in musical comedy, not only played the accompaniment but lent a soft baritone to the melody. Baclanova was once a noted dramatic soprano of the Russian theater."
